Project 365-revised

I decided to go a different route with my project 365. I’ve heard some buzz about 365 digi kits being offered but really have never taken the time to investigate them. A few days ago I came across THIS kit. I loved this idea, and decided to adopt it. However 14.99 a month plus printing is WAY out of my (nonexistent) budget. So instead I’m CASEing the idea.

I thought maybe someone out there might be interested in the dimensions and such of creating the templates so I figured I’d give them here. Disclaimer: I am a newbie at photoshop and what I do know I pretty much taught myself. So the way I do things may not be the usual even the easiest or best but it’s the language I understand.

How to:
{canvas} 12 x 24, 300dpi (everything will be done at 300dpi)
{photos} cropped 4x6
{papers} cropped 2x6 (journal blocks) & 6x6 (title block)
{borders} blank canvas w/ white background- {vertical}: .25 W by 12 (x 3), {horizontal}: .125 H by 24 (x2), & .125 by 18 W

How To:
{canvas} 12x 24, 300 dpi
{photos} cropped 3x7
{papers} 3x5 (journal blocks) 3x12 (title block)
{borders} blank canvas w/ white background- {vertical}: .125 W by 12 (x7), {horizontal}: .125 H by 21

{canvas} 12x24, 300dpi
{photos} cropped 4x6
{papers} cropped 2x6 (journal blocks) & 6x6 (title block)
{borders} blank canvas w/ white background- {vertical}: .125 W by 12 (x3), {horizontal}: .125 H by 24 , & .125 H by 6 (x7)

My First Digi LO!

I swore I'd never ever go there... (yet I said the same about going digital w/ a camera years ago too). Well, my Mom's BDay was last week and were headed out of town for a visit (and Z's bible quiz meet) so I had to get a gift done.

Tara, my amazing friend took this family shot of us at Christmas and I knew I needed to do something w/ this pic for a gift, since my Mom hasn't even seen the photos yet! And this morning (nothing like the last minute huh?) I had this brilliant idea...I should do it digital!

Honestly it took me longer to get an inspiration and find a digi kit that worked than it did to actually create it! I think after web surfing & downloading kits, the whole process took less than 45 minutes! (for the record I don't think I have EVER scrapped a LO tradditonally in 45 minutes. No matter HOW simple!)

So here you have it my very first ever digi LO... think it might be the first of many to come??? Hummm, you never know.... :0)

Make a difference {Monday}

I listen to Air 1 an awesome christian radio station based out of California but through local transmitters recived here in Idaho. I love love love this station, I can't say enough good about it... this aint your grandmas worship music! I dare ya to try it out here in the Treasure Valley is 98.7 fm or you can always listen online...

ANYWAYS....

Every Monday they do "make a difference Monday" where people are encouraged to do small acts of kindness for others. Its really neat to hear people call in and tell stories of how doing something small for someone can really make a difference (not only in the recipients life but also in the givers too) You can do small things from helping someone out with their grocries, call a friend thats been on your mind, or offer to pay for the persons behind you's order in the drive in...

I LOVE this concept- and I am challenging myself (and your welcome to join me) to do something special each Monday. For me today its to be extra concious of the people around me, while at the dentist I made sure to make eye contact and smile at everyone who came in (I know that seems small, but for me this is huge- I sometimes am to busy and shy to aknowledge others around me). I think I will send a card to somone I haven't talked to in a long while, just to say "hi" and maybe brighten their day.

this reminds me of this song... Give me your eyes, by Brando Heath ( i hope this comes through!)

Project 365/Jan 1-10

Project 365, if you don't know, is basiclly a journal thought the year in pictures. As a scrapbooker I plan to use these pictures to create monthly LO's, so at the end of the year we can reflect back on all our memories big & SMALL. I plan to post each weeks pictures here, in hopes that I will stay commited to this project throught the year. I'm already a little behind... (blame that on getting myself organized!) but here are the first 10 days of January...

1.New Years Eve with friend Liz 2. the ice cream incident.... 3. cropping with friends 4. cleaning and organizing (got all the board games together and in a new home!)

5. Let it snow, let it snow 6. sick-blah 7. catching up on some reading 8. My sister, Sara, who helped me install my new entertainment center (yipee!)

9. coffee with a good friend 10. scrapping projects
One thing I have learned is I need to remember to take my camera with me when I go places! (I wish I got a pic of me & my freiend out having coffee- but getting a pic of the cup had to work...) Want to join me in this quest? Its not to late! I'm sure you have pictures from the last few days, think about some of the things you did-even from your daily routines and go take a few shots to fill in. And make sure to share with me your pictures, I'd love to see them!!

His Holy Name 09- Challenge 1

I am so excited about this challenge. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the first week to get started! If you’re not familiar w/ it you can get more info here… http://faithsisters.com/forum/index.php?topic=6847.0

SO this week’s name is HOLY. Of course for me the verse that automatically pops in my head is from Leviticus “be Holy for I am Holy’ because its one of my favorites. I was in an awesome study of the book of Leviticus a couple years ago, and God really spoke to me. I am set a part, special, and through the blood of Jesus I am holy. I may still sin, but each day that sin is wiped clean and I can start the next day new. Each day is filled w/ choices and challenges sometimes I fail sometimes I prevail, but the promise of God gives me a hope to continue on. And there will be someday when I can be at my Saviors feet and truly be holy. And with this my motto is simply “become who you are” because who I am IS holy.

But as I started going through the bible reading verses about God’s holiness I decided this wasn’t about ME this book is about HIM. I first started with http://www.biblegateway.com/ as suggested by several people, I typed in the word HOLY -and holy cow! (no pun intended) That word is mentioned A LOT! So after about an hour of skimming verses (its amazing how easily you can get “lost’ in the word and time just fly’s) I decided to go back to my trusty http://www.preceptaustin.org/ I LOVE this site and can’t recommend it enough. It has word studies in the Greek & Hebrew, it has commentaries and graphs and charts and well frankly just about anything you could need.

I started off looking at the word holy in Greek. As I researched, read, & made notes I had so much information I started to wonder how the heck am I going to fit this on a 6x6 LO? LOL So I decided to sleep on it, let God talk to me, let the words absorb into my heart- because one thing I truly hope to get out of this challenge is to become closer to God, to know Him better, and to grow in my walk with Him. In the end this is what I came up with…
Front:

Holy, Holy, Holy
Who is like You among the gods. O LORD? Who is like You majestic in holiness. Awesome in praises. Working wonders? –Exodus 15.11
Back:

Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad. -1 Chronicles 16:10

The Hebrew word for holiness is kadesh which means something which is cut off, separate or set apart. It describes that which is anti-secular (secular = of or relating to the worldly or temporal), in a category all its own. Kadesh describes something that is elevated out of the sphere of what is ordinary. The New Testament word hagios also means set apart, separate and so in a class by itself. It follows that for believers (saints or "holy ones") the call to be holy is a call to be separated from common use and set apart, or reserved, for special use. In both Old and New Testaments the term is applied to things, persons, and pre-eminently to God Himself.
Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines "holy" as "Properly, whole, entire or perfect, in a moral sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the Supreme Being, holy signifies perfectly pure, immaculate and complete in moral character; and man is more or less holy, as his heart is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We call a man holy, when his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of God, and his life is regulated by the divine precepts. Hence, holy is used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly."

“You shall be holy for I am holy” -1 Peter 1:16

I also decided I was going to make another album for a friend. This album, will be a bit smaller (so I can easily mail it). I decided to just stick with the key word and then a verse or two to go with it rather than all my ramblings in my personal album. I’m excited to send this off to her and I hope that as she receives each page she is blessed. I plan to make a front cover (on my to do list this week…) and it will all be attached with a large jump ring.

New Blog Banner

So, what do ya think?? I had a sleepless night (darn cold) and decided rather than toss and tun in bed I'd get up enjoy the quiet house and play on the computer. I created this banner and the side bar headers all from scratch! (no premade digi kits here!) I just had to toot my own horn... I've been dabbling in photoshop for a while and I'm slowly teaching myself (mostly by trial & error). Its almost as fun as playing with paper..... hummmmm

I thought I'd put this out there- (a girls gotta make money to buy more scrappin stuff right?) If you would like me to custom make you a blog banner I will do so for $20.00 and $5.00 for each matching sidebar banner. I'm happy to work with you to create a super fun page that represents you & your style! Just leave me a comment or email me at Heatherbstampin@clearwire.net

Here is some other banners I have made recently also...

Glad Christmas break is almost over!

You know, the past two weeks have been pretty good. My kids have gotten along for the most part, and we have been able to enjoy each other's company with minimal incidents. until tonight...

The two youngest were supposed to be watching a movie. There was no indication that anything else was going on...till I see them come to the kitchen grab paper towels and go back in the room. "Uh Oh" what's going on?

This is what I found... yep that is ICE CREAM dripping down the walls. (and you can't even see it ALL in the photo either!) Apparently my son snuck a carton of ice cream and it melted so he decided it would be great fun to fling it on the walls.

Is it Monday yet?
