Better late than never...

Happy Belated Birthday to my wonderful friend NANCY! Her B-Day was really last week but I just could not find the time to get this card done before hand, sorry 'bout that Nancy! I made sure to add lots & lots of purple just for you. Hope your day was great!!

Details:

{stamp} Whisps of Joy (I believe that is the name, it was from an image swap, but I do have to say I LOVE her and I think I might have to HAVE her!!)

{markers} bic, sharpie (Ok I'm too cheap for copics...), Prisma, & Marvy Twinkellette gold glitter

{paper} Chatterbox (old old scraps from my stash)

{embellishments} acrylic heart by Heidi Swap, felt Flower by American Crafts, button, Glitter, Corner punch by EK Sucess, Ribbon by bazzel, & Cats Eye Ink by Colorbox

Part of the reason this card took me a little longer than planned is because I had help. (actually Matthew was the culprit, but Abby decided it needed some more color)See what I get for leaving my stuff out & unattended (darn I only had 2 images from the swap too! Anyone want to RAK me some more???)

So after the coloring incident I needed to keep Abby busy so I could get the card made (and not mess up my last & only image) so she made this sweet bella card. Pretty good for a 5 year old!

A new image...

In my last post I mentiond that I did my first photo shoot in a long while. I have been into photography for years working for 8 years in the industry for a couple different companies till My son, Matthew was born and I became a full time SAHM (stay at home mom). Since then I have done many shoots for family & friends, and as the years have passed I have grown in my hobby and continue to learn more & more.

I used to go by the name "Memory Lane Photography" because it was cute and because my grandparents actually live on a street named Memory Lane and I was lucky enough to get to live there for a while as a child myself.

I never actually legally registered the name or anything, I just do this on the side. but the other day while on the way to Addie's photo shoot the Lord gave me a new name. I'm really excited about it.

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him"
Genesis 1:27

Since my photography is centered around people mostly childern, seniors and family I think the new name is perfect. I still have no plans to take my photography beyond friends & family & word of mouth. I enjoy giving others the opprotunity to experience more in depth photography than a frazzled session at the mall or your local wal-mart at a price that is affordable. (in many cases even cheaper than those chain mall stores!). I don't plan to set up any websites or even a special blog, but I will share my work with you all here among all my other rambelings and creative projects. So I hope you'll enjoy from time to time the occasional photo shoot postings!

Photographing Addie

Sadly its been a long long while since my camera has seen much more than the mundane everyday life and recording the events of my childrens lives. When I was asked to do some Senior portraits for Addie I was thrilled. We had SO much fun walking around downtown Kuna (yep who woulda thought Kuna could be so cool?) And got some absolutly STUNNING shots!

These cookies were so fun to make and just way too cute not to share. My kiddos had a blast making them!

1.Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and almond extracts. Gradually add the flour and salt. Beat at low speed until well blended.

2.Divide dough into 10 equal sections. Combine 4 sections of he dough with red paste-type coloring until smooth. Combine 3 sections of the dough with green coloring until smooth. Combine 2 sections of the dough with yellow coloring until smooth, and combine remaining dough with blue coloring. Wrap each section of dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

His Holy Name- Righteous

Psalm 89: 14-16
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You. How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O LORD, they walk in the light of Your countenance. In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.

Righteousness is derived from a root word that means “straightness.” It refers to a state that conforms to an authoritative standard or norm and so is in keeping with what God is in His holy character. Righteousness is a moral concept. God’s character is the definition and source of all righteousness. God is totally righteous because He is totally as He should be. The righteousness of human beings is defined in terms of God’s. God is always righteous and His righteousness causes Him to always think and do what is right or act in perfect goodness in relation to His creation. He will always do what is right. God’s justice, love & mercy must be harmonized with His righteousness which cannot be compromised. As an attribute of God it is united with His holiness as being essential in His nature In short, the righteousness of God is all that God is, all that He commands, all that He demands, all that He approves and all that He provides (through Christ in the gospel).

God always acts righteously; His every action is consistent with His character. God is always consistently “Godly.” God is not defined by the term “righteous,” as much as the term “righteous” is defined by God. God is not measured by the standard of righteousness;

God sets the standard of righteousness.

And the pages for my friend...

The "R" word

It is time to “Spread the Word to End the Word” and on 31 March 2009 Special Olympics is calling for a national day of awareness for America to stop and think about their use of the R-word. That R-word is not “recession,” but something more hurtful and painful – “retard.”

Most people don’t think of this word as hate speech, but that’s exactly what it feels like to millions of people with intellectual disabilities, their families and friends. This word is just as cruel and offensive as any other slur.

Spread the Word to End the Word will raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the R-word and encourage people to pledge to stop using it. America will be asked to declare their support for more respectful and inclusive language, specifically that referring to those with intellectual disabilities.
