I am so excited about this challenge. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the first week to get started! If you’re not familiar w/ it you can get more info here… http://faithsisters.com/forum/index.php?topic=6847.0
SO this week’s name is HOLY. Of course for me the verse that automatically pops in my head is from Leviticus “be Holy for I am Holy’ because its one of my favorites. I was in an awesome study of the book of Leviticus a couple years ago, and God really spoke to me. I am set a part, special, and through the blood of Jesus I am holy. I may still sin, but each day that sin is wiped clean and I can start the next day new. Each day is filled w/ choices and challenges sometimes I fail sometimes I prevail, but the promise of God gives me a hope to continue on. And there will be someday when I can be at my Saviors feet and truly be holy. And with this my motto is simply “become who you are” because who I am IS holy.
But as I started going through the bible reading verses about God’s holiness I decided this wasn’t about ME this book is about HIM. I first started with http://www.biblegateway.com/ as suggested by several people, I typed in the word HOLY -and holy cow! (no pun intended) That word is mentioned A LOT! So after about an hour of skimming verses (its amazing how easily you can get “lost’ in the word and time just fly’s) I decided to go back to my trusty http://www.preceptaustin.org/ I LOVE this site and can’t recommend it enough. It has word studies in the Greek & Hebrew, it has commentaries and graphs and charts and well frankly just about anything you could need.
I started off looking at the word holy in Greek. As I researched, read, & made notes I had so much information I started to wonder how the heck am I going to fit this on a 6x6 LO? LOL So I decided to sleep on it, let God talk to me, let the words absorb into my heart- because one thing I truly hope to get out of this challenge is to become closer to God, to know Him better, and to grow in my walk with Him. In the end this is what I came up with…

Front:
Holy, Holy, Holy
Who is like You among the gods. O LORD? Who is like You majestic in holiness. Awesome in praises. Working wonders? –Exodus 15.11

Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad. -1 Chronicles 16:10
The Hebrew word for holiness is kadesh which means something which is cut off, separate or set apart. It describes that which is anti-secular (secular = of or relating to the worldly or temporal), in a category all its own. Kadesh describes something that is elevated out of the sphere of what is ordinary. The New Testament word hagios also means set apart, separate and so in a class by itself. It follows that for believers (saints or "holy ones") the call to be holy is a call to be separated from common use and set apart, or reserved, for special use. In both Old and New Testaments the term is applied to things, persons, and pre-eminently to God Himself.
Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines "holy" as "Properly, whole, entire or perfect, in a moral sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the Supreme Being, holy signifies perfectly pure, immaculate and complete in moral character; and man is more or less holy, as his heart is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We call a man holy, when his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of God, and his life is regulated by the divine precepts. Hence, holy is used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly."
“You shall be holy for I am holy” -1 Peter 1:16
I also decided I was going to make another album for a friend. This album, will be a bit smaller (so I can easily mail it). I decided to just stick with the key word and then a verse or two to go with it rather than all my ramblings in my personal album. I’m excited to send this off to her and I hope that as she receives each page she is blessed. I plan to make a front cover (on my to do list this week…) and it will all be attached with a large jump ring.

So beautiful! I read a book by Kay Arthur - 'lord I want to know you' and it was on the names of God. Really taught me a lot.
These are VERY beautiful! Wonderful job Heather!
